about

39 years in the making and has since garnered a mythos akin to Brian Wilson's SMiLE! but with a heavier disco element and less obvious musical invention. "Cult" TV theme composer/arranger Johnny Hazlewood spent years hiding away from this project after 'that tw*t" Jeff Wayne stole his thunder with his, some might say, inferior "War of The Worlds" project. "His is based on an existing story" said Johnny at the time "any c*nt with access to an orchestra and the reading age of a chimpanzee could come up with that piece of crap". The Oids, although lacking in the originally intended narration due to potential copyright issues from the estate of H.G. Wells, is a sprawling, disco-space-epic. As the project only came to full fruition recently there are some tell-tale modern elements to the production and the inclusion of Paul Darrow of Blakes 7 fame for the notorious "dialogue" took years of wrangling with management, agents and off-licenses to pull off.
At the end of the day Johnny admits that The Oids falls short of the initial vision and some might call it a flawed, quixotic failed-masterpiece but there are flashes of Johnny's former brilliance still and pointers to what a great artist he could be considered today had he only been a bit better.

Even the artwork was a compromise. The stylish, enigmatic piece that Johnny oversaw was, in his mind, ruined by the demand by the label to include a garish flash cashing in on Darrow's brief appearance. Johnny had had enough at this point and signed over all rights to development of the project to notorious impresario Kevin Allman who was overheard recently saying "Hazlewood was always a f*cking washout but I'm f*cking going to f*cking take that f*cking idea to the f*cking cleaners mate. Mine's a f*cking slimline f*cking G& f*cking T"
