about
1997. Trevor Eve's mid-career crisis (and indeed Johnny Hazlewood's) occurred due in no small part to ponderous nonsense such as "Repetitive Beast". An agonisingly patronising "thriller" in which a father (Eve) goes in search of the killer of his daughter. It leads him into the "underground rave culture" (many years too late - it went mainstream nearly ten years previous to this). Eve goes (hilariously) undercover as a raver getting "mashed", "buzzin'", "Oh sweet Jeez I'm fubar man!" and other cringe inducing phrases.
The killer (A young David Tennant no less) is a wide-eyed, drug crazed, acid casualty with all the over-acting that implies and more.
Members of the Philly punk, experimental, and classical scenes come together for dreamy, Bill Frissell-esque folk improvisations. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 28, 2024
