about
1974. Matthew Corbett's ill-fated attempt to reinvigorate the puppet-based TV market with, possibly, one of the most horrific shows aimed at children to (dis)grace the cathode ray. On paper all is fairly innocent - A fox (Scratch) and a rabbit (Sniff) live together, with Matthew, of course, and try to put their innate differences aside to live in harmony. Much hilarity ensues as Scratch prepares endless meals with one vital missing ingredient...etc.
The horror only became apparent though when kids tuned in to see Matthew with his hands up real stuffed animals. Moving jaws, vicious looking teeth and bits falling off them in each episode had the youngsters and their parents not only turning off in their droves but petitioning parliament to have Corbett removed permanently from the airwaves.
