1973. A victim of thoughtless scheduling, "Skin and Bone" was a doomed prototype, of sorts, for "Open All Hours". Derek Bone (Ronnie Barker) runs a family butchers in Little Whipping. His young, apparently naiive apprentice, Victor Skin (David Jason) sells adult reel-to-reel movies literally from under the counter. The innuendo factor was astronomical and bearing in mind this was broadcast just after the early evening news it's no surprise there was outrage from the moral majority. Barker toned down the whole concept to, it has to be said, much greater effect.
