about

‎'The Protection Racket'. In 1986, with condom sales at an all-time high, Channel 4 presented this frank and anarchic look at sexual politics in the 1980s. Presented by Rowland Rivron, Dawn French and Jimmy Somerville with musical interludes from Amazulu, Scritti Politti and Billy Bragg. Now famous largely for Victoria Wood's notorious 'Putting A Spring In My Step' song - a musical homage to the benefits of the intra-uterine coil.
